What's going on?!

I popped onto LJ tonight and I see that so many people are panicking over the LJ servers moving to Russia and are jumping back to dreamwidth. I went ahead and backed up my LJ to DW as well.  You can find me at billysgirl5 on DW. Feel free to add me!

EDIT:  I've also backed up the Jared/Christian community on jaredchris on DW.

While LJ does have it's issues, I think I'm here to stay. If it goes down, then I will leave with it. I backed up my account with DW because I have so many posts that I wanted to save.

How do you back up your LJ to DW? thought I'd do it just as a precaution.

Do you have an account on DW? If not, create one and verify your email with them. Once that step is complete, you can import your LJ to DW here (https://www.dreamwidth.org/tools/importer.bml).

From what I understand, the LJ servers moved from California to Russia and that will severely limit what can/will be allowed to be posted. I've read that with the servers in Russia, they can delete and ban you, steal your creative pieces and sell as their own (art/poems/stories), release any personal information to whomever they'd like (including financial info if it's linked). I'm sure there is a lot more information about it, but I just haven't had the time to really look into it.
