Firefox help!

I updated Firefox today (yes, I had been putting it off), and now all my toolbars and menu buttons are all over the place, some even gone.  I eventually just customized the whole thing and got them into a position that I like, but once I closed the window, it all reverted back to what it was before I customized it.  It's not giving me an option to lock things into place, so does anyone have any idea what to do so that I don't have to keep customizing it every time I open a window?
