For those with Kindles or Nooks, is it possible to share your books with someone else without them having to purchase the books?

Steps:
1) Download the Kindle application from Amazon. This will enable you to read the e-book on your computer.
2) Start the app and select the book you want.
3) Browse your My Documents directory and look for the Kindle folder
4) The latest e-book opened will be unencrypted. HOWever, it will not be labeled by the book title. Rather it will be named a random string of letters and numbers. I usually just go to the latest folder by date.
5) Copy the .mobi file (or whatever the .extension is) and paste it somewhere else. Rename it to whatever you want. Share, upload, whatever.
Voila!
I'm afraid I can't help with the Nook. I don't have one.
